What Is The Treatment For Epilepsy?

I developed epilepsy 14 years ago. My seizures only come in my sleep. My husband has been here for the entire time and had speculated, at one point, that maybe I was dreaming about something that tripped me off into a seizure. (This being because my testing and exams have never come up with a physical cause or indication of cause and he's been laying right beside me each time and I wake him up with the heavy panting and moaning just prior to the actual seizure.) Recently, he was able to wake me up before I actually seized, which was a first (the panting woke him and he in turn woke me). Well, it turns out that what he suggested seems to be valid, if extremely weird, and I thought, unlikely. When he woke me that first time (he's caught it now 3 or 4 times now), I had been having what you'd probably call a nightmare, although I wasn't scared. There was a freaky little girl with no eyes standing in the doorway to my sitting room, coming out of my bedroom, in the dream. I attempted to speak to her, see why she was there I guess, but she didn't respond. I then scooted over to the edge of my bed and started to slid off to the floor intending to walk over to where she was and I remember having one or both arms extended out toward her. When my feet should have hit the floor, there was nothing there and I started to have the sensation of falling. That is when my husband woke me up and said I was trying to seize. This happened again just night before last, the dream was different (there is a house I dream about regularly & most times that's what I'm dreaming of when he catches me before I have a full blown seizure). Have you ever heard of such? How is it even possible? Is there anyway to do anything about it since it's connected, apparently, to dreaming? The whole thing is just too bizarre for words considering the lack of any other quantifiable cause and that meds have never made any impact, other than side effects. What do you think?

Hi,

I am Dr.Bruno. I have read your question and understand your concerns. Let me try to help you

From What you have described to me, I am of the opinion that your seizures start in Temporal Lobe and then spread to Frontal Lobes and then to other places

Temporal Lobe Seizures present with Hallucinations which you are seeing as girl in dreams.

Question : Have you ever heard of such? How is it even possible?
Answer : This is Temporal Lobe Epilepsy Madam

Question : Is there anyway to do anything about it since it's connected, apparently, to dreaming? The whole thing is just too bizarre for words considering the lack of any other quantifiable cause and that meds have never made any impact, other than side effects. What do you think?
Answer : You have to treat Temporal Lobe Epilepsy Madam

Till now, they must have considered that you were suffering from GTCS. Now that we have the correct diagnosis, it is very easy to treat.

Hope you found the answer helpful.

If you need any clarification / have doubts / have additional questions / have follow up questions, then please do not hesitate in asking again. I will be happy to answer your questions.

Let me know if I can assist you further. Since we cannot prescribe Tablets in Open Forum, I have refrained from doing so.

Take care.
