What Is The Treatment For Elevated Liver Enzymes?
Hi, I am 28 year old male with elevated liver enzymes. I have stopped smoking in the last few months. I have only drank alcohol on rare occasions this year. I have been using various Nicotene replacement products. My ALT levels have reached 300 and are now at around 150 but seem to be stuck at that level. My AST levels were within the normal range and have now slightly increased to a level of 52. I have had a vast array of blood tests to check almost everything and nothing significant has been found. I am suffering from chronic fatigue. Could my use of Nicotene products be affecting my liver? Or do you have any other suggestions for possible causes?

You are given nicotine replacement product in which low dose nicotine given for preventing withdrawal symptom and craving for smoking....
It is for smoking cessation....
It is not well documented whether nicotine in low dose can affect liver....
Investigate with first USG abdomen to rule out fatty liver or gall stone like condition....
Then if history of suspected sexual history or blood transfusion. HBSag ruled out by ELISA.....
Take low fat diet and fruits more .
Use less oil in cooking....
Besides liver if you have muscular or heart problem history then also liver enzymes can be high..
Follow your nicotine replacement programme to stop smoking.
You can consult physician or gastroenterologist for your work up.
