What Is The Treatment For Cyst In Breast?

My 15 yr old granddaughter was diagnosed with a cyst in her breast yesterday and today after further examination it was called an abcess-there was an infection. MD gave her an antibiotic yesterday. today said the antibiotic would not be effective as it could not pentetrate this abcess . They are going to insert a needle and withdraw the fluid. When asked if the fluid would dissapate naturally the answer is no AND if left as is could cause a serious problem. they frightened my granddaughter. Is this the only way to deal with this problem-one the MD said they do not know what caused it?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

It could be a benign (non-cancerous) lesion like a fibroadenoma.
You can plan for an FNAC fine needle biopsy to confirm the diagnosis.
Consult a general surgeon and he will direct you accordingly.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Shinas Hussain, General & Family Physician
