What Is The Treatment For Constipation?

I take laxatives regularly because I can't seem to go normally even though I eat a healthy diet that includes lots of fruit, veg and roughage. I have had this problem since I was a child. My mum used to give me liquid paraffin to help with my constipation. I went to Florida in 2011 and for some reason when I came back I was able to go to the loo normally. This went on for about 10 months. Then I had to go on a course of antibiotics, one of the side effects being constipation. After that I stopped going normally and now have to take laxatives again. What can I do so I don't have to take laxatives each time to help

Hi thanks for contacting HCM...

You have constipation since childhood....
You are taking laxative for it regularly...
So you can have now habit for laxative as taken for long time.....

But here obstructive cause has to be ruled out like bends and adhesion etc....
Do x ray and usg as preliminary work up....
And if needed colonoscopy might needed....

Here detail history need to be taken...
Accordingly if suspected there might be aganglionic bowel segment that can lead constipation with vomitting ....biopsy needed for it...

If no organic causes present treat your constipation with fruits more and green leafy vegetables....
Exercise done....
More water taken....

Take care....
