What Is The Treatment For Cold And Blocked Ear?

I have had a bad cold for the last couple of days, and yesterday I got a blocked ear. I guessed it was caused by the cold, but last night I woke up with a sharp pain in my ear, I felt a warm liquid in it, and thought it was earwax. In the morning, I discovered it was blood. What caused this?

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have cold and blocked ear which is due to eustachian tube dysfunction and chronic upper respiratory tract infection. I would suggest you to take nasal sprays and do warm saline gargles Put otogesic drops in ear. You should take antibiotic Ciprofloxacin for one week. Avoid pricking ear with sharp object. Visit ENT specialist once and get it examined. You should get paranasal sinus x-ray done along with otoscopic examination and start treatment after proper diagnosis. Avoid oily and sharp food. Drink plenty of fluids.

Hope your concern has been resolved.

Best Wishes,
