What Is The Treatment For Chronic Constipation, Gas Build Up And Abdominal Pain, Relieved Only By Digene?

Dear Doctor,
I have stomach problems like Gas, Constipation, etc. for more than 8-10 years. I have consulted many doctors also Hepatologist. But unsuccessful to get rid of this problem. Whenever I feel discomfort, I take immediately Digene Syp or tablet and get relief. If digene is not taken, I have to bear abdomen pain, vomiting, etc. and also have to take Tab. Meftalspas and then I get relief. Could you please advice, if Digene is taken for long time, have any side effect or not and Digene is safe or not. How can I get relief from gas, constipation, abdomen pain, etc. please advice me. thanks, regards.

Hello,
Though Digene is being used for prolonged periods by many without any complications, it DOES have side-effects like dementia, decreased platelet aggregation, encephalopathy, myelopathy and constipation. So, I would suggest restricting the use of the medication and going for natural remedies as well as alteration in dietary and exercise habits. Please try to avoid fatty, oily and heavy foods and instead, take more of boiled, steamed foods which contain all the nutrients and less fat; also, use intake of natural fiber and plenty of oral fluids to relieve constipation. You may also use mint and honey. Have frequent small meals to avoid indigestion and gas formation. Hope this helps.
