Hello,

First, she may need to control blood sugar levels with diet control and regular exercise.

Next, for ulcerative colitis purpose, starting treatment may need to induce remission by drugs (Steroids, antibiotics, anti-inflammatory drugs, Immunosuppressant), then if she get remission need to maintain lowest possible dose of drug for life long (depends on severity). She needs intermittent colonoscopy and blood tests according to the disease status.

Sometimes, she may get intermittent flare ups so need to be treated accordingly. If you still have doubt, please consult your gastroenterologist, he/she will examine and treat you accordingly.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Penchila Prasad Kandikattu
