What Is The Treatment For Bloating And Gas Formation?

Hi I have Gatroparsis and Gerd and have boughts of bloating and painful gas. I also have a prescription for Raglan that I just started using again. I have been on antibiotics on occasion which does help, but can't take it all the time. My Dr, just prescribed Carafate to calm my stomach. I am diabetic for 12 years. Type 2. Just wondering if the Carafate will help with the bloating, pain and gas. Also I have had severe arthritis in my hip and have been using ibuprofen and my Dr. thinks that is what brought this bought on. I have read the Carafate doesn't work for everyone. What is your opinion? Terri

Hi,
Carafate mainly contains sucralfate, which is mainly used for patients with ulcer. I am not sure if all these sign and symptoms you are suffering from is suggestive of ulcer disorder. Treatment therapy for GERD and other disorders is completely different. This drug can be helpful in preventing the development of ulcer or help in healing. You may be having some problem related to IBS (irritable bowel syndrome). I would suggest you to consult some gastrointerologist regarding this and have a proper examination and investigations to reach to a confirmed diagnosis. Then only proper and rational management can be done.
