What Is The Treatment For Black Color Vaginal Discharge?

I have been taking Mimvey since June 26th. I haven t had any periods since March. I started bleeding last Thursday - lightly - almost black in color - feel horrible! My OB/GYN told me to stop taking and see him in 2 weeks, which was my follow up anyway. At this point, I will suffer the hot flashes to quit this bleeding, cramping, and all the emotional funk that goes with it! :(

Hello,

I do not have the information about your age and another relevant history here. From what you have reported, it appears that you have had an episode of bleeding after menopause.

Black colored blood is usually old blood. It would stop by itself. However, a gynecological examination is important to rule out any lesion that may give rise to bleeding. It is particularly important to investigate in case of bleeding after menopause. A camera check of the insides of the womb and biopsy of the lining of the womb is recommended. An ultrasound of the uterus may also give additional useful information about the uterine walls and the ovaries.

By this time you must have seen your OB/GYN and hopefully, you have been reassured with relevant work up and been advised about how to deal with the other symptoms such shot flushes etcetera that you have reported here.

A point of note is that it may not be necessary to take medicine such as Mimvey for reducing the symptoms of hot flushes etcetera that occur due to deficiency of hormones. There are many foods that contain phytoestrogens that can help relieve these symptoms. Diet and lifestyle changes including exercise can help reduce these symptoms significantly with many additional benefits rather than undue side effects.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Sabina Hussain
