I have a sister who is mental ill really not sure what the disnose is but her doctor has her on all kinds of medicines for bipolar and all. But she stays like in the days and cries alot. But i dont think she needs to be on all kinds of different bipolar medicines.
In bipolar disorder, patient needs mood stabilizer with antidepressant or antipsychotic that depends upon the symptoms. You did not mention the symptoms, but the way you have explained, may be she is in depressive phase. In that case, she should take mood stabilizer like lithium or valproate with antidepressant. Better to consult a psychiatrist and If you need further help, you can ask.
