Hi,I am Dr. Gopal Goel (Orthopaedic Surgeon). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
am 52 yr. old female just starting to feel the effects of arthritis. Which got worse after full gastric bypass surgery two years ago. I started taking a glucosimine/chondrotin (sp?) supplement with my other supplemental vitamins and minerals. It seems to help my knee joint pain considerably. The problem is that I have started getting a recurring bump on the side of my second finger first joint. It would grow to be red and tender. I lanced it and a absolutely clear jelly came out. It does not seem to be an infection. Only a cyst that keeps filling. I empty it, sterilize, antibiotic ointment, bandaid and it heals. About a week later I can feel it filling again. This is a bit more then annoying and it affects my job to some extent. I was wondering if it could be somehow related to the glucosimine/chondrontin that is supposed to be rebuilding that sort of jell fluid in my knee joint. Thank you
I have studied your case with diligence. There is possibility of ganglioncyst compressing nerve which when punctured leads to fluid leakage . Cystic lesions are usually benign and surgical excision is definitive treatment.
I will advise routine blood investigation medication like anti-inflammatory

What Is The Treatment For Arthritis?
Hello, I have studied your case with diligence. There is possibility of ganglion cyst compressing nerve which when punctured leads to fluid leakage . Cystic lesions are usually benign and surgical excision is definitive treatment. I will advise routine blood investigation medication like anti-inflammatory X ray and EMG NCV study will help to diagnose CTS or arthritis. This may not be related to knee pain or glucosamine sulphate. Hope this answers your query. If you have additional questions or follow up queries then please do not hesitate in writing to us.
