What Is The Treatment For Anxiety And Asthma?

On oct. 22 I moved with my 2 kids and hubby from chicago to colorado. I cried 8 hours there and had horriable anxiety out there. I have asthma and before we left for co they put me on symbicort. It worked great. Then one day I had bad stomach pains and poop. Then I felt this heat come up the middle of my chest and the tightness came back. Ever since then I have had bad poop and stomach hurts every morning and now my chest is burning and I'm a ball of nerves bc I went to the er 8xs and they said its anxiety. I get the upper gi scope done next week but do u think this is all gerd?

HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

Anxiety can be associated with a range of symptoms involving any system of the body including the respiratory system (lungs, trachea, nose) and the GI tract ( stomach, intestine, oesophagus).

It is possible that anxiety can worsen GERD symptoms and may also contribute to change in stool frequency but before your symptoms are attributed to anxiety, other causes need to be ruled out.
There are GI tests that can check all aspects of the GI tract, these should be done.

Anxiety may worsen GERD but treatment still requires the normal measures such as lifestyle changes and GERD meds.
Lifestyle changes would be mainly diet changes and weight loss if needed.

I hope this helps
