What Is The Treatment For Anal Genital Warts?

I was diagnosed with anal genital warts about 2 weeks ago. I started using the aldara cream. Last night I noticed my labia majora was very itchy. This morning I woke up to find 3 red spots on my labia majora and one right near my anus that looked like they were almost bleeding in the middle. These don t look like the other genital warts I am treating right now. Before bed tonight I looked again and it looks like one of the new spots that was rubbing my labia minora that was bleeding this morning is gone and like 6 pus filled looking bubbles have appeared right in the fold of my labia minora. The other three spots that were new have now stopped itching and now resemble a flatter wart with a dark red spot in the center of each. Is this normal for genital warts or do I need to be worried about something else? I was also tested 2 weeks ago for RPR, Hepatitis B, Hepatitis C, HIV 1&2, and chylamidia. I found out today all were negative. Please help me! I want to know what the hell is going on with me!

Hello. Thanks for writing to us at healthcaremagic

Aldara contains Imiquimod which is a topical immunomodulator.
It is an irritant, therefore can lead to irritation, specially when it is used in the delicate skin of the genitals. It is a fairly common complication of its use in the genital area. The erosive lesions that you recently noticed are most likely a part of irritation due to imiquimod.
The best way to deal with irritation due to imiquimod is to temporarily discontinue it for a period of 3-5 days.
You may use an OTC topical antibacterial e.g 2% mupirocin ointment over the erosions.
Once the erosions heal, you may restart with Imiquimod.
Please visit your doctor if the condition fails to improve as expected.
