What Is The Treatment For A Lump Behind The Ear?

I suffered from vertigo early July and was diagnosed with a viral inner ear infection. While the vertigo is gone and most of the resulting balance issues are resolved, I have still very little hearing in my right ear and a feeling of fullness like there is water in the ear. According to the ENT nerve damage with no hope to come back. I also have a little cyst like lump behind the ear lobe right where the cartilage meets the skull bones. I can move it around and it is not painful. However when I touch it it produces a clicking noise. Sometimes it clicks even without touching. The ENT brushed it off as nothing but he didn't even feel or look at it. Wondering if you have any idea what that could be and if it might have something to do with my hearing loss. Also any suggestions if there is any treatment or hope to resolve this would be welcome. Thank you.

Hello

welcome in H.C.M.

Regarding your query for a lump behind the ear and loss of hearing I would like to say that both these are appears to be separate and not related to each other.

Though you are also giving history of vertogo in your past it indicates that your hearing loss is cochlear or retrocochlear. This may be investigated to find out the real cause only than treatment may be decided. So you may fo for-

1- Pure tone audiometry.

2- Impedance audiometry.

3- C.T.Scan of ear (HRCT).

As for as lump behind the ear is concerned it indicates some infection is going on either in scalp / dandruff in hairs / disease of lymph node itself. These various possibilities may be ruled out by FNAC from lump.

Treatment for lump and hearing loss both may be decided only after confirmation ot etiology and for this you have to consult your ENT doctor.

Regards.
