What Is The Treatment For A Fractured Tibia?

I was recently in Mexico and was hit by a car while riding my bicycle. I ended up in emergency and was seen by an orthopedic surgeon who told me I need surgery within two weeks for a fractured tibia plateau. Since my travel insurance did not cover this I was flown home and ambulanced to Lions Gate Hospital in North Vancouver. I spent a day there and eventually an orthopedic surgeon on call decided to send me home saying I did not need surgery. I am now confused since I have received two totally different treatment options. Should I get a third or where do I go from here.

Hi,
well it depends which kind of fracture you have in your tibial plateau and can be commented upon the x ray finding of at least two views and CT scan (if internal fixation planned ) . undisplaced type 1, type 2 & 3 with depression less than 5 mm /frail or osteoporotic fracture can be managed conservatively (skeletal pin 7 cm below # may require ) Rest other must be managed with internal fixation according to #.

Hope this ll help

THANKS N REGARDS
