Hi,I am Dr. Prabhakar Koregol (Cardiologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
my dad has recently been diagnosed with AF and a recent test also shows an inflamed left ventricle. Is the inflamed ventricle likely to be caused by the AF or could it be a seperate ailment? He is 65, slightly overweight and is on medication for hypertension and gout.
Hi, Atrial Fibrillation is mostly due to dilated chamber of heart which can be due to valvular heart disease or coronary disease. You need to evaluate for bothto rule them out. It can also be due to electrolyte dysfunction & sepsis. Their is nothing called inflamed Left Ventricle. Still the treatment includes ruling out the cause of AF, treating the cause. Control in heart rate in AF is very important, our goal is to keep it below 110. Another important thing in AF is risk of clot formation in heart, which need some blood thinning medication. Thanks
