What Is The Thick Piece Of Bloody Flesh Discharge After Intense Cramps?

I'm currently sexually active. I started my period 10 days ago, but I wasn't supposed to have one at all due to bring on birth control. I've had many intense cramps. Today as I was changing my pad, I noticed a very large somewhat thick piece of bloody flesh. What is it? Did I have a miscarriage?

Hi,
Thanks for the query.
Being on contraceptive pills also, withdrawal bleeding is possible.
If you used contraceptive pills as per the guidelines, the possibility of pregnancy is less.
The tissue you mentioned could be bit of endometrial tissue which might have came out along with bleeding.
If you missed any pill, there is possibility of pregnancy.
In that case, the tissue could be part of products of conception.
If you have that doubt, once go for urine pregnancy test.
If the test comes negative, the possibility of pregnancy is less.
If the test comes positive, once consult gynecologist, get examined and go for ultrasound.
By this workup the possible cause for passage of tissue can be identified and can be treated.
Take care.

Hi, Thanks for using HCM.

Oral contraceptive pill failure rates are less than 1%, if taken regularly.
Though you are on oral pill, With history of prolonged bleeding and expelling some bloody flesh, need to rule out conception. Get urine pregnancy test done. Blood HCG test are more accurate in detecting pregnancy. Consult gynecologist and get it examined.
If pregnancy test becomes positive, Miscarriage needs to be examined to confirm complete abortion.

Once pregnancy is ruled out, get evaluated for prolonged bleeding. Irregular periods are common due to hormonal variation. If your symptoms continue in subsequent cycles need to rule out endometrial problems.

Hope this helps you.
