Addiction Medicine Specialist 's  Response
Hi,

First of all, the changes in the autonomic system caused by amitryptiline will trigger glaucoma in some individuals and this is needed to be checked. Otherwise, there are quite a few medications that are effective on headache and are not related to amitryptiline and will not have any of the same side effect profiles of it.
Topamax is a mild anti-epileptic that is about as helpful as amitryptiline (about 2/3's helped a lot by it) and not a bit related to amitryptiline.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
