Hi Sir from last few days i am feeling some problem with my left ear. I have consulted a doctor and he said there is a small hole and that s why i could not hear clearly. Also he mentioned hole was placed because of cold . Everyday night i am getting some water from the ear. So, Can you please tell me what could be the reason for the hole. Also let me know the treatment to get the problem fixed. Thanks in Advance.
Dear Pavan
Hello I am Dr Ravinder Sharma ENT surgeon. It appears you have a perforation in tympanic membrane(membrane which seperates ear canal with middle ear). It can be acute or chronic. If the history of perforation in drum is less than 6 months it is acute suppurative otitis media and if the history of perforation in drum is more than 6 months it is called as chronic suppurative otitis media
Acute suppurative otitis media may heal by itself in majority of cases
If untreated or poorly treated and disease is more than 6 months it requires medicines and surgery
I hope this answers your concern. Feel free to contact me if you have some more query about this disease
with regards
Ravinder Sharma
