What Is The Shelf Life Of Alprazolam?

I take alprazolam 0.25 mg as needed for anxiety. i might take half a pill a day for 2 or 3 days, then nothing for a week or so. Obviously my perscription lasts a long time. what is the actual shelf life? And does it hurt you or is the potency lowered? I can't find the answer, and my doctoer won't tell me. HELP!!

Hi.
I have gone gone through your query.

The approximae shelf life of alprazolam is about 24 months, but it may vary according the manufacturer.Usually it ranges between 18 weeks to 36 weeks .You can check the expiry date on the back of the strip.
Post dated alprozolam do not hurt you.But you may not get desired therapeutical effect when you use old drug.
So Im of the opinion that never use postdated drugs under any circumstances.

Hope this answer helps.
With regards.

Dr.Shinas Hussain.
