What is the right time to take vitamin tablets during pregnancy ?

hello Doctor.
My self Dimpal. I am expecting with 2+months. Now I am having Folic acid tablet only as per my doctor's prescription. Could you plz suggest me whether this is the right time to take Vitamin tablets during this period or I will take it later.

Thanks for writing to us with your health concern.
Folic acid is very important for the growth of the fetus, particularly the nervous system.
It should ideally be started before conception
It is critical to take it during the first trimester, as that is when major organ systems are forming.
Please take it as you have prescribed, as it is very important to take it right now.
You can continue it till term.
However, it is essential to take it atleast for the first trimester of pregnancy.
If you have a past history of abnormal babies or family history of congenital abnormality, then you should take 5 mg per day of folic acid.
Do not worry, as your prescription is correct.
