Hi. Welcome to healthcaremagic community forum. The dose and frequency of insulin depend on the type of insulin and the sugar levels of the patient. There are 2 varieties of insulin, a long acting one, given 2 times a day and a short acting one given 3 to 4 times a day depending on the sugar levels. In general, the first dose can be administered early in the morning at 7 before coffee or tea and follow up with breakfast. The night dose has to be taken before dinner. The timings, frequency and the dose has to be altered depending on the blood sugar levels. Hence monitoring of the sugar levels is advised during the course.
