Hello
Methylcobalamin or cyanocobalamin or mecobalamin are one and same thing i.e Vitamin B 12 .
The normal dose varies from patient to patient and disease to disease .
As for example : peripheral neuropathy 500 mcg daily I/M or I/V or 3 times in a week ( on alternate day ).
Maintenance dose:After about 2 months therapy , reduce dose to single admin of 500 mcg ( microgram ) every 1-3 month.
It is mcg NOT mg.
Test dose is given ,if patient is sensitive or not sensitive to any drug ( anaphylaxis reaction ).
If sensitive it is contraindicated . If reaction occurs patient may develop rash , anaphylaxis, bronchospasm , itching swelling .
Hope this will help you.
