What Is The Red Area On My Right Arm Around The Bicep Area?

Yes i was wondering about staph infections. I went to the gym tonight and after i showered i noticed a red area on my right arm around the bicep area. I feel like it could be just an ingrown hair but i just want to make sure its not staph infection. I have called my local hospitals and one told me to clean the area and put antibacterial cream on it. I have done so. It is not an open wound. It is maybe the size of a swollen pimple but it has a decent size red area around it. The red area seems to be going away very very slowly as the night goes by but the pimple or bump has seemed to get bigger. Please let me know if i need to go to the er or what my best option is.

Hi

You seem to have developed a localised skin infection in the form of a hair follicle infection.
Such a lesion of folliculitis over the skin can be associated with pain redness and swelling over the area.
You need to keep the affected area clean and dry. Apply a topical antibiotic cream like neosporin over the affected areas twice a day.
Do not apply any other oil or cream over the area.
If the lesion continues to increase in size and is associated with pain and redness , then you might need a course of oral antibiotics as well. For that you will have to see your local doctor.

Hope it helps
