What Is The Recovery Time For Perforated Eardrum?

Hi guys I was wondering if I could ask your advice. I received a heavy right hook when boxing and my eardrum perforated. I went to A&E the next day as the sound didn t return. Three weeks later I saw an ENT specialist and they told me the hole had closed. It has now been six weeks but I do still have a small pain in my ear. Nothing that s actually sore, it just feels sensitive as much as anything. I was wondering as the ENT specialist says the hole has closed over, would you be able to advise when I may be okay to return to sparring and swimming? I have still been keeping my ear dry, but I m not sure if I need to keep doing this...

Hi,

The trauma causing perforation of eardrum usually closes within 3 weeks, which is your case and you should be happy about it. The trauma to pinna is causing the discomfort which you are feeling now and will settle with time. You may take Serratiopeptidase for a week for good recover.

The strength to the healed eardrum takes about 3 months and then only your can go for swimming and so on. Take multivitamins for good strength to the eardrum. Do not instill anything in ear. Do not be near high noise zones.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
