The danger is not wanting to breathe and having this cause brain damage. Obviously this is monitored in the hospital. The danger is that it has already happened. The worst effects of it they can tell by now if her brain no longer works. If they don't think that has happened, then there will be SOME recovery. TO know if there was SOME damage and SOME personality and intelligence change you cannot know until they are fully awake. Valium is a long acting drug. Furthermore, its effects go even longer if there is an overdose. While the usual valium would be out of the system in a day or so, an overdose can easily keep someone asleep for a week.
You cannot tell right now. It may be a week before you have much of an idea, but might be 2 days til they wake up depending on dose taken.
