Hi,I am Dr. Gopal Goel (Orthopaedic Surgeon). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I am 44 and as I have got older my bones seem to be getting more prominent. I am not over weight but a healthy size that has remained the same for 20 years so why do my bones stick out more. I was worried I might have bone cancer!! I am still strong as I am a yoga teacher
Hello, I am Dr. Selmani and I read your question carefully. I wished that you were more specific regarding which bones are getting more prominent. Yes over the time the bones degenerate and create more bone spurs around the knees , heels ankle and the soft tissues around the joints getts swollen from arthritis. If you are talking about the fingers, in rheumatic arthritis the fingers get swollen and later dislocate. If this is e generalized problem that you observe in your body this is not cancer but arthritis. If you see a bump or one particular bone enlarged that you should worry and see the bone specialist ( orthopedic surgeon). If you saw these bones sticking out in the big toes that is bunion. I wish had a more specific answer if you had given more specific details of your problem. I wish you all the best
