What is the reason for heart beat in the mouth and the head in a 60 plus person after improper sleep ?

I am a 65 year old hypertensive female concerned with the fact that I have a heartbeat in my mouth and head area at times noted most when I awake from a restless sleep; what does this mean I also have a bridge that I have had since 1980.
