What Is The Reason For Blood In Urine?

I always have a trace of blood in my urine. A cystoscopy showed everything to be ok a few years ago but I continue to have blood in my urine everytime I go to my urologist. No other symptoms. Should I be concerned? Is it normal for some people to always have blood in their urine?

Hi there,

The presence of blood in urine is indicative for:
- trauma
- urinary tract infection
- stones (calculi)
- other obstacles of urinary tract pathways (e.g. enlarged prostate if you are a male or any other internal mass)
- congenital narrowing of urine pathways that might need correction.

You can discuss with your urologist about these options and to run further tests to determine the right cause.

All the best!
