General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi, i do care for your concern.
This is a routine scan done during the second trimester of the pregnancy.
This is the period of organ development and hence your doctor advised to have it at 22-23 weeks of pregnancy.
The scan is done abdominally, the scanning doctor looks for minute details of organs and for any congenital anomaly.
need not panic as this is a routine scan.
Hope I have answered your question. If you have any further questions I will be happy to help.
I find this answer helpful
