Dear freaknstyle, Welcome to HealthcareMagic!
Bipolar disorder is a serious psychiatric illness but now a number of specific medicines are available:
Lithium-- oldest, still the gold standard
Divalproex sodium-- another good option
Other anticonvulsants-- like lamotrigine, oxcarbazepine
Atypical antipsychotics-- like olanzapine, ziprasidone, aripiprazole, risperidone, etc.
I advice you to go to IHBAS [Institute of Human Behavior & Allied Sciences], Shahdara-- though a Govt hospital, you will get proper diagnosis & management by a TEAM of psychiatrists & psychologists in instutional set up. Also, they also offer psychotherapy besides drug therapy. Good luck.

Dear sir, i am the patient of bipolar disorder. i used valprol 500mg six months back. doctor prescribed me cause i was facing bipolar disorder. as my disorder was improving so doctor advice me to use valprol 300 after 2 months and again after 2 months doctor prescribed me valprol 200. as i need another baby so doctor advice me not to use valprol as it may cause danger to baby. last month doctor advice me to use another medicine instead of valprol but it didn t work. so without consulting doctor i started to use valprol 200. so is there any solution for me. i want baby without using valprol. but by eating valprol is there any alternative medicine instead of valprol which may help in my disorder and cause no effect to baby. waiting for your quick reply. regards kabita

I have suffered with social anxiety disorder, severe depression, bipolar, and this list goes on...from 14 yrs old and I am now 33 it seems medication may work a month to half a year then it stops. I had a small seizure-like episode last December. Then in August I passed out at work. I was pulled from clonazepam and put on Xanax xr and I took Zoloft for not even 2 weeks and they stopped that. I do not believe lamictal does anything. I suggested my sister takes Xanax in a bar form but they do not prescribe that and I warned the doctor I have been on other Xanax and it made me wanna punch people. So here I am I keep having panic attacks and non stop thoughts horrible sleep and I do not eat properly. My childhood friend suggest I try Prozac but as I look it seems there are so many reactions between these medications. It is as though I am popping skittles but never tasting the rainbow... I need help I am tired of feeling like a broken record that can never be fixed... it makes you question why you are even here on earth and it makes you think suicidal thoughts which my best friend did just that a little over 3 yrs and I have been in zombieland ... what is your advice for me?

If I am trying to take a nap, or while I m lying down before actually falling asleep, once in a while I will hear this quick buzzing in my ears, see this rush of white light zoom into view (with eyes closed (like in a dream state) ) and then feel an electrical impulse or shock and it brings me back to total consciousness. [All of these things occur simultaneously and within one second]. With my eyes open now I feel perfectly fine, although it is very startling I am fully aware of what had just occurred. Its not like when someone is dreaming and falling within a dream and just before they hit something they ll get a jolt, and wake. I haven t yet fallen asleep. After this occurs like I said I feel fine, my breathing is normal, my heart rate is normal but I m just so perplexed as to what causes this. Help?

I have a past with ovarian cysts. Not a fun one. I m 16 years old and have had 3 surgeries to remove them. This last one, they didn t remove. I had crippling pain for months. I still have the pain but it s dulling down. yet I can still feel pressure. I have had doctor after doctor tell me it s all in my head so don t try that. I ve been to countless counselors, therapists, psychiatrists, they can t find anything wrong with my mental health. Ovarian cancer is very prevalent in my family history. Should I be concerned?
