Bipolar disorder is a serious psychiatric illness but now a number of specific medicines are available:
Lithium-- oldest, still the gold standard
Divalproex sodium-- another good option
Other anticonvulsants-- like lamotrigine, oxcarbazepine
Atypical antipsychotics-- like olanzapine, ziprasidone, aripiprazole, risperidone, etc.
I advice you to go to IHBAS [Institute of Human Behavior & Allied Sciences], Shahdara-- though a Govt hospital, you will get proper diagnosis & management by a TEAM of psychiatrists & psychologists in instutional set up. Also, they also offer psychotherapy besides drug therapy. Good luck.
