My husband has recently been told that he has a fibroses in his chest. He has recently been coughing up blood over a period of approximately 6 days but this has cleared up now. He is able to walk without any problems and has no pain he did have weezing in his chest but since he has coughed up blood this weezing has gone. He sees the Specialist next Tuesday and I am very worried as to what the Specialist is going to tell him. Having looked up the word fibroses on the Internet the prognosis does not look good. Can you tell me if you think there is a possibility that it may not be as bad as it appears to be.
Hello Your main concern is fibrosis in lung . Initially there was coughing with blood for 6 days . So these symptoms may be due to these reasons , these include: 1 Pneumonia ( pneumococcus infection ) as this is the most common cause of such acute symptoms i.e. cough accompanying blood . 2 Tuberculosis , as this also another most important cause of such symptoms . Calcification and FIBROSIS usually suggests HEALED pulmonary tuberculosis or healed pneumococcal lesion . I want to tell you that , no doubt fibrosis present but as far as concern about prognosis it is very good in fibrosis cases. Since you are just going to a pulmonologist so need not to worry . Deal as mentioned above. Good luck.
