What Is The Prognosis Of Glioblastoma?

I have last stage of glioblastoma. I have had surgery, radiation and chemo done. Now it is my 7 months of post surgery. I am now take chemo meds 5x28 cycle. Since my last MRI my cancer has not grown until now, but I do get headache and my seizure is controlled with keppra and Topamax. Do you know how long is survival rate for this kind of cancer.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

The survival rate of Glioblastoma depends on various factors like genetic markers, age at presentation, size, and location. Studies have a younger age, and good functional status is better prognostic indicators. Aggressive newer multimodality therapies have enabled few have survived even 10 - 18 years. Wish you be on this better side of the Karnofsky performance scale and enjoy the time you have with a quality life.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Dr. Rama Kumari
