What Is The Prognosis For Ureter Repaired With Psoas Hitch?

Thank you. My question is: during a pelvic lymphectomy one of my ureters was severed. Next day it was detected that during the repair of the ureter my other ureter was cut necessitating in another surgery to repair it. This happened a year ago and I have been doing well and ultrasounds and ct scan look good. I am concerned down the road I may have issues because of this repair and I wonder what the likelihood is that I will. One of my repairs required a psoas hitch.

Hello
Thanks for your query, based on the facts that you have posted it appears that you have accidental injury to your ureter during surgery of lymphectomy and it was repaired by a procedure called Psos Hitch.

This is a surgery to save the kidney and to mentain continuity of the ureter to the bladder which is achieved by moving the bladder upwards and anastomosis is done between ureter and bladder mucosa so that urine from kidney is drained down in to bladder freely..

There are no long term complication of this surgery .

Thanks
Dr.Patil.
