What Is The Prognosis For Congestive Heart Failure?

my father is 85 years old - has congestive heart failure - he has 20% heart function and 20% kidney function. Lasix has not worked. he is now on Bumax? He lost 5 pounds and is now starting to put bck on. He has a lot of fluid in his legs. His next step is dialysis. What is his prognosis?

Sorry to say – the prognosis is not at all bright
There are other factors in addition to Low ejection fraction of heart and poor renal function … valves’ integrity and function / wall of the chambers / arrhythmia, their nature and frequency / response to medicines .     
The treating doctor alone can suggest further based on his assessment of the situation.
Further deterioration can be prevented or postponed by aggressive management.
