What Is The Permanent Cure For Heartburn And Acid Reflux Problem Due To Hiatal Hernia ?
my girlfriend has a hiatal hernia and has had it for years, she has taken a few different meds to help with her acid reflux problem nexium is one of them. she has had a few tests donein the past to see that she doesn't swallow properly and heartburn etc is part of life for her.what can be done to help her permanently or make life easier for her?

You are saying that your girl friend has heartburn and swallow difficulties related with hiatal hernia and acid reflux. There are two type treatment of hiatal hernia:
1. medical (symptomatic treatment)
2.surgical treatment
If I were her treating doctor firstly I would choose medical treatment with nexium or rabeprazole and changing her lifestyle.
Surgical treatment is used only in big hiattal hernia more than 1/3 of stomach.
