What Is The Normal Range For ALT And AST?

Hello, my mother had blood work on Friday and her ALT is 167 and her AST is 108. She has a PEG tube because of sever dysphasia, weighs 116lbs and has white matter disease. She has seen docs, everything has been handled.... We just have the question of her blood work results- we will see the doc tomorrow.

Hello and welcome to HCM,
AST and ALT are two liver enzymes.
These enzymes are elevated in liver diseases which cause hepatocyte damage.
The AST and ALT levels in your test results are 108 and 167.
These levels are raised.
The normal range for AST and ALT are between 0-40 IU/L.
Thus, there is some liver cell damage going on.
The common causes of hepatocyte damage are viral infections, drugs and toxins.

Thanks and take care
