What Is The Most Beneficial Diet For A Person With Diverticulitis?

I was just diagnosed with Diverticulitis and honestly was so distraught over the amount of antibiotics I am now on that when the doctor told me what foods to avoid, I only remember tomatoes and pickles. Is there anything else I should be avoiding? What are the healthiest things to eat? (Side Note: I am also Vegan and have both IBS and GERD.)

Hi,

Fruit and vegetables are generally healthy to eat and food that has a lot of fiber. You can also take extra fiber supplement from the pharmacy as over the counter to help with the stools to be softer and easier.

You should avoid fast food, fried food, spicy food, a lot of fat or a lot of sweets and some patients don't feel well with the milk intake and should avoid milk and take yogurt or cheese in its place.

Alcohol may make it worse as well. You need to avoid any food you notice irritates you as well as some patients have problem with certain food and they need to pay attention to which food they are more sensitive and get symptoms.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
