Hi.
Thanks for your query.
Noted the history about your Father having on and off problem of
heartburn that goes to the chest for the last 30 years, gets sickness, NHS could not help much, has undergone all the tests and nothing has shown up.
First of all you will have to realize that it is many a times a clinical evaluation, history taking and correlating with investigations that help to get the proper diagnosis.
Clinically the diagnosis is obviously GERD, that is gastro-esophageal reflux disease.
I would advise him the following:
Get a PPI like
Omeprazole say for at least one and half. months.
Antacid liquid, particularly when he is on empty stomach.
Domperidone or such motility regulator.
You have to notice the factors that instigate or enhance the problems; it can be scents, deodorant, incense sticks, fumes, and such thing that need to be avoided once noted to cause the problems.
Small frequent diet of soft and bland diet.
Avoid alcohol and tobacco in any form.
Avoid stress and/or
anxiety as these cause more problems and allows the recurrence.
