General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi & Welcome.
I can understand your concern for the safety of Alfoo tablets.

Alfoo (Alfuzosin) is an alpha blocker which is prescribed to treat symptoms of an enlarged prostate like painful or difficult urination, urination urgency or frequency as it relaxes the prostatic smooth muscles and helps in voiding of urine.
It can cause postural hypotension, light headedness, drowsiness, blurring of vision, gastrointestinal disturbances, cold symptoms such as stuffy nose, sneezing, & erectile dysfunction.
Usually it is prescribed for 3 months and uroflow test is done.
If there are no symptoms and the flow is good, it can be stopped otherwise it is continued for another 3 months.

Urimax-D (Tamsulosin + Dutasteride) is also an effective drug for the symptoms of enlarged prostate.
Tamsulosin is Selective alpha 1A blocker, this specificity explains its lack of effect on blood pressure compared with Alfuzosin.
So, it is less likely to cause postural hypotension, postural hypotension, light headedness, drowsiness, blurring of vision, cold symptoms such as stuffy nose & sneezing.
Tamsulosin is administered once daily without dose titration.

So, Urimax-D is better than Alfoo.
Hope this answers your query.
