What Is The Life Expectancy Of A Heart Patient?

My husband is 52 years of age, doesn t drink and doesn t smoke, and was in relatively good health until recently diagnosed with right-sided heart failure. We have an appointment with a specialist on Monday to see what needs to be done. He has been experiencing all the classic symptoms and our local physician had an echocardiogram done and confirmed two leaky valves - one in the right ventricle and one in the left ventricle. Depending upon what the specialist suggests, what could be his life expectancy and how many of those years would he have quality of life? Thank You!

HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

Life expectancy would depend on the severity of his heart disease and also the presence of any other illnesses.

He would need cardiac investigations to fully determine the extent of his heart disease.

There are medications that can be used to help improve cardiac function and he would also need to decrease or control any risk factors.

I hope this helps
