Hi,I am Dr. Subhankar Chakraborty (Gastroenterologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Yesterday I felt an immense pressure in my rectum. I then felt a burst and thought I may have had an accident. When I went to the washroom I had a very large amount of mucus that had discharged from my rectum. It did not smell like feces it smelled like infection. It continued to happen for a bit feeling as though I needed to have a bowel movement but was just this mucus. I have lost my appetite and have not had a bowel movement since. I still feel the pressure and feel as though as I am sitting on a golf ball.
Hi. Thanks for your query. Noted the history of immense pressure in rectum, then felt a burst and thought of an accident hence visited the bathroom to find the escape of smell-less mucus and this repeated, with a feeling of going for passing the bowel again and again, feeling as though sitting on a golf ball... The most probable causes can be: Procto-colitis Cancer of rectum or sigmoid colon. This can be diagnosed by the following: Tests of blood and stool. Sigmoido and colonoscopy. Biopsy CT scan of the abdomen. All these with a clinical evaluation, examination and cor-relationship with the reports will get you the correct diagnosis so that a proper treatment can be instituted which may be Metronidazole and probiotics in case of colitis, surgery in case of cancer.
