What Is The Health Condition Based On The Report?

I got my referral letter from hospital as below:-(extracted) Maint complaint:1.Severe MS and Moderate TR 2.Ex alcoholic stopped 1 yr 3.AF on warfarin under HPJ Current problem:The pt is under our follow up for the above problem and during his first follow up we noticed that his ECHO showed worsenning of EF and his MS also became more stenosed. However he claimed asymptomatic. In view of the worsening of his EF and MS, kindly r/v this pt KIV for surgical intervention Purpose of referral: For sugical intervention. My queries:- 1.What is the purpose of the referral letter? 2.The letter claim that my ECHO report showed worsening of EF and MS but at last the letter stated that kindly review me KIV for surgical intervention. 3.Do my situation really worse as the report showed? What should i do? Thanks.

The purpose of the referral letter is to give the consultant information about your condition and ask for his/her opinion about surgery to correct it.

You have severe mitral stenosis (MS) which seems to be getting worse. You also have worsening of your heart's ability to pump because of the MS. In addition, the MS has resulted in atrial fibrillation for which you need to take a blood thinner. These are serious conditions, and this is why your doctor is considering surgery.

The valve probably needs to be replaced so your heart can function better. The heart surgeon will see you and review your case to see if you are a candidate for the surgery. The surgery is risky, so the doctor will make sure that it will be less risky than if you do nothing. So I would suggest you see the surgeon and get his or her opinion. You will ultimately be making the decision yourself, but get as much information about the potential risks and benefits so you can make a wise one. Best wishes. Hope this answers your query.
