What Is The Effect Of Cervical Polyp During Pregnancy?

good day. :) i am 16 weeks pregnant and had just found out to have a cervical polyp 2days ago when i went to my ob because i had bleeding. ob said that the polyp will not be removed during pregnancy as it may harm the baby. my questions are the following: 1. will my baby be safe and healthy if the polyp will not be removed during my pregnancy? 2. or can it be removed without causing harm on my pregnancy? 3. what could be the effects of the polyp on my baby s development and after delivery? thank you so much for your time. God bless. :)

The polyp has no effect on your baby's development. It is a benign growth that may cause a little bleeding sometime, but is not dangerous for the baby. The concern about removing it is that damage from the surgery to the cervix can weaken the cervix. This can make the opening from the uterus weaker to where it becomes difficult to hold the baby inside till it's fully grown. Don't worry about the polyp. It will be safe to let it remain during your pregnancy and you can have it removed after the birth. Hope this helps.
