What Is The Dosage Of Fluoxetine?

my sister has to take fluoxetine 20 mg cap for two times/d . Does she has to take with meal or after or before meals? What time does she has to take it ( morning, lunch or dinner or bed time)? How long she has to take it? (1-6 years or life time)? It has major sideeffects that she has to be aware of? Thanks, mitt.

Fluoxetine is used to treat depression, anxiety disorders, eating disorders and obsessive-compulsive disorders. She can take Fluoxetine capsules with or without food in the morning at the same time every day. She should not take alcohol while taking this medicine. After initiating the treatment with Fluoxetine some people may feel worsening of their disease (worsening of depression or having suicidal thoughts) before feeling better. Therefore, your sister should see her doctor again after 2-3 weeks. How long to take the medicine is depend on her diagnosis, her response to the medicine and defined by her treating doctor. She should inform her doctor if she is taking any medication while on fluoxetine. The most common side effects are headache, insomnia, diarrhea and nausea and fatigue.
