What Is The Difference Between Cold And Allergies?

My son started with a runny nose the other day, now he s so stuffy he can t breath, his eye is watery and tearing up a lot and there is some clear gunk coming out of it. He has no tonsils but his glands are swollen as well. No fever though...yet. Any suggestions? Cold or allergies? He s 8 yrs old.

Hi,

It can be allergic and may be a super-added infection. Waters view X-ray is recommended. A pediatric observation is needed too.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Sunny Madar, General & Family Physician
