What Is The Difference Between Zomig 5mg And Maxalt 10mg?

How does generic Zomig compare to generic Maxalt in terms of effectiveness? The generic Zomig is a 5mg tablet, while the Maxalt is a 10mg tablet. Why the difference? Zomig says repeat every six hours, if necessary, whereas Maxalt says repeat every two hours, if necessary. It would suggest that Maxalt is not as effective as Zomig.

Hi,

Both of these drugs are from the same group (triptans) and their mechanism is similar. Howe'ver they are structurally quite different. So the dose and duration need to be different. There is no reason to think that which one is more effective if taken in it's an appropriate dose. Yes in medical terminology Zomig needed in 5 mg is more potent then mixalt which is needed the double dose. But this not mean which one is better as this is not criteria.
