What Is The Difference Between HPV And Fordyce Spots?

A little less than a week after having more or less vigorous oral sex with my girlfriend in which we ve been faithful to each other and both checked for the usual STIs, I noticed a two small spots on the shaft of my penis, they seemed to be a slight different color than fordyce spots which I have plenty of. They just stood out to me as having a slight grey hue rather than the rest of them which are all yellow-white ish. (My fear of them being HPV warts startled me upon seeing them. I don t have any knowledge of being with anybody with HPV although I know that it is the most common STI there is.) I tried to squeeze them thinking that they might be clogged like pores. They could be described as larger than normal fordyce spots but generally in the same diameter size range. I also in the same inspection noticed that some of the others were slightly irritated and red and I assumed this was from the scrapping of teeth during oral sex. After trying to squeeze the two in question though they just turned blood shot red like broken blood vessel color red. So now I have these two spots on the side of my penis Im not too sure of. No puss or fluid came out of them but it definitely looks like I made the situation worse :/ Im probably over reacting much like most men but I would like to know how drastic HPV warts look in comparison to fordyce spots.

Hello,

I can understand your concern for possibility of either fordyce’s spots or warts in your case.

Fordyce spots are pinhead size or slightly larger bumps occurs over mainly the under surface of the penis i.e. on the frenulum area. Basically these are proliferation of the normal oil glands which are present over this area.
Most commonly the spots on the under surface of penis are Fordyce spots.

These are pinhead size or slightly larger bumps present over mainly the under surface of the penis i.e. on the frenulum area. Basically these are proliferation of the normal oil glands which are present over this area.

Genital warts are simple viral infection which appears as acuminate or thorn like or pointed projections. These are small at first and then in few weeks of time, increase in size as well as number over the genital area.

These are most commonly present on the ring of glans penis. This is because of maximum friction and trauma during sexual act. If at all some persons are frightened then we do remove these with radiofrequency ablation.

I hope the information will help you.
