Hi teddy nyamwiza,

Thanks for coming to HCM.

The whole symptoms points to a chronic disease, most probably the tuberculosis. The cardinal symptoms of the disease include cough of any type of more than two weeks, loss of weight, bloody sputum, evening rise of temperature, night sweats etc.

For the diagnosis one should go for chest x-ray where there will be the lesions of tuberculosis. For confirmation just a simple test i.e sputum microscopy for acid fast bacilli is done. If it is positive treatment is started. If negative one more early morning sputum examination is done. If both are negative and there is a strong clinical suspicion of tuberculosis, as in this case treatment can be started empirically.

For new case, treatment given is for 6 months and the diseases is fully curable......so nothing to worry...

Meet your general physician for the abovesaid tests...

Best wishes
