What Is The Correct Weight Of A 3 Months Old Baby?

My baby is 3.5months old and 8.5kg. I bring this up with the midwife, but they never seem to offer any help. I mention that he still feeds every 2 hours, but they say that is normal. I m not sure they are just saying that to get me out of the office... He possets all the time, again they don t worry too much about it... Is it normal to have a huge baby? He was born 3.6kg.

Hi,

Thanks for writing to health care magic.

Your baby is gaining weight rapidly than expected. Normally a baby doubles weight by the age of 5 months. and triples weight by the age of one year.
In the first 10 days of life they loose weight there after gain around 30 to 35 grams a day for the next few months.
Breast fed babies gain less weight compared to formula fed babies.
Is your baby breast fed or formula fed?
Your baby needs complete physical examination.
